A Specialized Haven for Disability Pensioners

 Vulnerability takes many forms, and at Growing Wise, we recognize that some members of our community require specialized, long-term care. Under our umbrella, we manage a second property located at our Hermanstad office, which primarily houses disability pensioners.

These specific beneficiaries are unable to generate their own income due to their disabilities and rely entirely on state pensions to survive. It is our mission to ensure they do not have to face the harsh realities of poverty alone. We assist these vulnerable individuals with comprehensive care, including their meals, clothing, toiletries, and bedding. Providing this level of consistent care places a significant demand on our resources, making the ongoing financial support from private sponsors absolutely critical to keeping this haven open.

Over time, our centre has become known as a "hot spot" for anyone in the public who finds themselves in desperate need of help. We actively assist families in our surrounding neighborhood who are currently living below the breadline by distributing vital food and clothing. Unfortunately, our financial needs have greatly increased recently as more and more people reach out for emergency assistance. The Daily Journey to Rehabilitation at Daspoort

At our main shelter located at 446 Herman Street in Daspoort, the Growing Wise Homeless Centre currently accommodates up to 27 homeless and unemployed individuals. Our overarching goal is not just to provide a temporary roof, but to truly rehabilitate these people through the renewal of their self-worth and their faith. We strive to see them become productive members of society who are fully capable of standing on their own two feet again. However, the journey to independence requires daily sustenance and care. To keep the Daspoort shelter running, we must constantly provide food, clothing, toiletries, and bedding.
